BarberMcMurry Architects - Arnstein Building

In our own downtown Knoxville office, BarberMcMurry created an inspiration, modern space built for collaboration.

Housed in the Arnstein building, believed to be the first Knoxville high-rise, BMA's office is designed to immerse the studio in a dynamic urban atmosphere and support creativity, collaboration and responsiveness. The space is organized to maximize daylight, views and openness.

Interior design purposefully avoids enclosed spaces, allowing light to proliferate through the building, and respects and preserves the existing historic detailing.

The new studio is highly energy-efficient, and utilizes sustainable design and construction techniques, achieving LEED: Silver certification.

"The jury appreciated the clean lines and sense of openness. The use of an all-white interior is striking and maximizes the sense of light, while the continuous blue line is an effective, and ever-changing, theme."
