BarberMcMurry announces promotions for Heather Beck, MBA, APR; Angela Berrier, AIA; Kristin Bowman, NCIDQ, WELL AP; Megan Chafin, AIA, LEED AP, WELL AP, CDT; and A.J. Heidel, AIA.
Heather Beck, MBA, APR, has been named a Senior Associate. Beck is the Communications Manager for the firm, overseeing marketing and communications efforts. She joined the firm in 2018 with a background in PR, technical writing and journalism. She is the Chair of the Public Relations Society of America’s Southeast District and serves as Treasurer of the Girls Inc. of the Tennessee Valley, Knoxville. Heather is also a member of the Downtown Knoxville Alliance marketing committee and a longtime tnAchieves mentor. She and her husband, Josh, live in Hardin Valley.
Angela Berrier, AIA, has been named a Senior Associate. Berrier has been with BarberMcMurry for 28 years and is one of the firm’s most experienced project managers, with extensive experience with higher education, civic, and recreation projects. She serves on AIA East Tennessee’s K-12 Outreach Committee and volunteers for the Women’s Care Center of Sevier County. Angela has managed several projects on the University of Tennessee and UTIA campuses, as well as projects for Tennessee Board of Regents.
Kristin Bowman, NCIDQ, WELL AP, has been named an Associate. Bowman is an interior designer at BarberMcMurry with experience in healthcare and higher education design. She joined the firm in 2015 with a degree from the University of Tennessee. Kristin is currently renovating a historic home in Old North Knoxville, and is getting married this spring.
Megan Chafin, AIA, LEED AP, WELL AP, CDT, has been named Studio Manager. Megan is a Senior Associate and project manager who has been with the firm since 2012. Megan also serves as BarberMcMurry’s Building Information Modeling (BIM) Coordinator. She is the Chair of the AIA East Tennessee K-12 Outreach Committee and serves on the boards of the East Tennessee Community Design Center and Girls Inc. of the Tennessee Valley, Knoxville. She is also a member of the AIA East Tennessee J.E.D.I. and Communications committees, and a tnAchieves mentor. She and her husband, Nick, have two sons.
A.J. Heidel, AIA, has been named an Associate. Heidel has been with the firm since 2017, and designs civic, commercial, higher education and multifamily residential projects. Some of his recent work has been for the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture and for University Health System. He enjoys volunteering with the United Way of Greater Knoxville. He and his family live in historic Mechanicsville.
