Welcome to our two new hires — Sarah
Peacock as an architect and Olivia Poston as an architectural graduate.
Peacock earned her Master of Architecture with a
Health concentration from Clemson University in 2016. Sarah has extensive
healthcare design experience and is the author of the white paper “Orthopedics
Design Guidelines and Considerations” and led a research initiative in the
causes of rural American infant mortality and design of a prototype facility
for community care in “Rural Prenatal Care.” She has recently relocated from
North Carolina with her husband, who is a resident at the University of
Tennessee Medical Center.
Poston is a 2019 graduate from the University of
Tennessee College of Architecture + Design, where she was on the Dean’s List.
She studied abroad in Rome, Italy, through the University of Arkansas. Her work
of remapping the Nolli plan in Rome was nominated in the HBG Design Award Exhibition.
She has previously worked as an intern in Nashville, where she completed an
entry into an affordable housing design competition.
Four of the interior designers at BarberMcMurry have earned their National Certification for Interior Designers
Qualification (NCIDQ).
Kristin Bowman, NCIDQ; Julie Dalby, NCIDQ; Katie
Lowery, NCIDQ; and Barbie Corzo Thomas, NCIDQ, are now licensed professionals. Professional,
licensed interior designers are qualified by education, experience and
examination to enhance the function and quality of interior spaces.
Kristin, Julie, Katie and Barbie join Abby Farr, a
recent interior design graduate from Auburn University, in the largest interior
design team of any architecture firm in the area.
Kristin has been with BarberMcMurry since 2015 and
specializes in healthcare and higher education design, working with clients
that include East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, Pellissippi State Community
College and University Health System.
Julie joined the firm in 2014 and is the interior
design team manager. She works on a wide variety of project types, recently
with clients like Analysis & Measurement Services Corporation, Webb School
of Knoxville, and Knox County Schools.
Katie has also been with BarberMcMurry since 2014.
Her eye for design has benefited clients including Radio Systems Corporation
and the University of Tennessee.
Born in Buenos Aires, Barbie joined BarberMcMurry in
2018. She has recently worked with clients the University of Tennessee
Institute of Agriculture, Summit Medical and Cherokee Country Club and has led
the team in pro-bono design projects — like a recent interior makeover for a
disabled Blount County teen through Kingdom Design Ministries.
