For Ole Smoky Distillery, BarberMcMurry renovated a typical "vanilla box" into a unique and distinctive retail location for an established moonshine distiller.
Much of our work with Ole Smoky involved upgrades to the building façade, with Ole Smoky’s in-house team providing the large part of the interior up-fit. The primary entrance at the corner of the building also serves as a backdrop for a small outdoor performance area — and the exterior is carefully designed to visually erase the boundaries between indoors and out, encouraging foot traffic to enter the space.
The architectural details, including the incorporation of reclaimed barn wood, pays homage to the local barn vernacular as well as the rich history of Ole Smoky and its founding family, who have honed the art of whiskey-making for more than 100 years.
