Building Area: 32,000 s.f.
Date of Completion: 2000
Type: New Construction
Location: Knoxville, TN
Challenge: Create a major new presence in a growing population center for a regional bank.
Solution: The pre-design process uncovered a unique opportunity for Home Federal. Because the target market for this facility was more upscale, educated and more likely to be non-native to the area, the building could more fully embrace contemporary design concepts. Still, the bank needed to leverage its “hometown bank” image, giving existing customers a high degree of comfort interacting with the facility.
BMa presented a design that combined neoclassical themes with contemporary treatments such as the rotunda marking the main entrance. The two-story facility was designed for lease tenants and future bank expansions. Entering the main atrium, visitors find a spacious, open area with a dramatic staircase and simple way finding to the bank and the building’s other tenants.
Although highly compact and efficient, the bank’s leadership has remarked of the facility that it is among the most functional layouts among the bank’s many locations.
