Challenge: Provide a new state-of-the-art bio-technology research facility for a state university.

Solution: The Plant Biotechnology building is a 5-level research facility designed to support advanced research and foster collaboration and sharing. Included in the facility are classrooms, lecture halls, an auditorium, technology facilities, and over 80 labs. The centerpiece of the building is a geonomics hub laboratory for DNA sequencing, genotyping and microarray analysis; plant growth chambers, plant tissue culture rooms; a biosafety laboratory; and rooms dedicated to radioisotope use and epifluorescence.
