Challenge: Renovate an existing fitness center to be an engaging space that inspires the creative process, encourages team interaction, and is pet friendly.
Solution: Ultimately, the driving factor of this renovation was to reflect the company culture in an open, fun, and relaxed environment – the client wanted a space that would speak to who they are and support the value of the creative process. The space was brightened through the use of crisp whites and energetic accent colors, with warmth and texture incorporated through wood tones and patterned textiles. Three zones, including an open space for individual and group use, private conference rooms, and a break area, achieve varying levels of separation through the use of glass, drapery and custom wood partitions without compromising views or access to natural light. Mobile furniture and glass boards are utilized to maximize flexibility for large groups to break out, generate ideas, and come together to share. Interactive writeable and magnetic walls, as well as tackable panels and chalkboard walls, provide ample opportunities for team members to get away from their desks and generate fresh ideas. Acoustics were addressed through the use of felt baffles and wall panels that enhance the aesthetic and add visual interest. Pets are an indispensable part of the team, so in addition to materials selected with the highest level of cleanability and durability in mind, the design team utilized hooks with carabineers to hold dog leashes and also designated a water station for furry friends to rehydrate after a successful brainstorming session.
