Challenge: Design a sustainable, energy efficient downtown federal office buliding.

Solution: This 160,000 s.f. post-modern building is located in downtown Knoxville. The building houses a dozen federal agencies where more than 500 local employees are located. Offices are provided for Federal Bureau of Investigation; Internal Revenue Services; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms; United States Secret Service; Department of Housing and Urban Development; Department of Health and Human Services; Department of Interior, and others. Plazas are placed in the two opposing corners of the site and include a series of landscaped areas, seating, walks, and water features, providing a much-needed green space for downtown Knoxville visitors. Employee parking is provided in a sub-surface garage beneath the six floor office structure.
