Challenge: Design a new housing prototype for Habitat for Humanity - Knoxville.

Solution: The purpose of this project was to develop a new prototype house to be constructed by volunteers of the local Knoxville Habitat for Humanity. Our design sought to maximize usable spacefor this small house, both inside and out. By pulling the structural elements of the house to frame outdoor spaces, we encouraged use and interaction with the outdoors not currently seen in typical Habitat houses. The complexity of the design is an illusion created by repetition of simple structural elements. We also sought to maximize natural light in the home's interior by utilizing repetitive window elements throughout.
